Cleaning House Relay

Challenge your guests to clean up the Cat in the Hat’s mess as fast as they can!

To play, divide your guests into equal teams. For each team, you’ll need a broom and three small balloons to represent the mess they have to clean up. To make it easier to differentiate teams, use a different balloon color for each group.

Mark a long starting line on one side of the room (or yard, if playing outdoors) and line up each team at intervals along it. On the other side of the room, set a chair, box, etc. for each team. The first player on each team must travel down around the chair and back to the starting line while sweeping their “mess” along with them! If a balloon pops, the player must take a new balloon to the starting line. When the first player has finished, he or she gives the broom to the next player, and so on.

The first team to finish, wins!
